Personal Biography
Christian Cuba began his love for soccer at the age of three and never looked back.
His extensive experience both as a player and as a team and private coach has
helped him mold his skill sets as a trainer and mentor to understand that the needs
of each single player varies.
With strong, positive reinforcement and using a focused
approach on skill building and a high technical emphasis for young athletes so that
they are comfortable with the ball at their feet before they ever move it on to their
teammate has helped his players build endless amounts of confidence and belief in
their capability to contribute something positive every single time they have a
chance to step on the field.
As a player, Coach Cuba played club soccer with Silver Lake Soccer Club in his
hometown of Staten Island NY and helped lead his teams to five State
Championships. He played high school soccer for the Monsignor Farrell Lions where
he is one of only three players in school history to be named Staten Island Advance
All Star three times. Garnering NY Daily News and NY Post All Star accolades twice
in his high school years as a varsity player. That high level of play lead Coach Cuba
to a full D1 scholarship to Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City, NJ where he played
his four years of college soccer was once again able to etch his name in the history
books. This time alongside his teammates as they became the first soccer team in
their school’s history to win their MAAC conference championship in 2003 and enter
into the D1 NCAA tournament. A few days later they would also become the first
sports team in school history to win an NCAA game when they drew #11 nationally
ranked Brown University in their first round and downed the powerhouse school 2-0.
Eventually ending their monumental season the following round to Michigan
University. In 2009, six years after their historic run, Cuba and his teammates would
be inducted into Saint Peter’s University Hall of Fame for their achievements.
While finishing his studies at Saint Peter’s for his sports marketing education in
2006, Cuba began his private training business and club coaching career as a way
to share his love and passion for this game which he had seen his father Oscar Cuba
and his older brother Alex Cuba implement and become major pieces in their
respective soccer communities at the time. Just a year after stepping foot onto the
other side of the touchlines, opportunity came knocking on his door as his former
assistant coach at Saint Peter’s, Tom Giovatto, became Head Coach at D1 Saint
Francis College Men’s Soccer program in Brooklyn, NY and needed an assistant
coach to help restore a struggling but promising soccer program to its former glory.
Cuba dove in head first at the opportunity to be a part of a coaching staff with a ton
of talented, high level, and driven players and help them along their path as he had
just finished walking down it himself. A lot of hard work, coaching education and
experience poured into his years as an assistant coach on the highest level of
college soccer and exactly ten years after he had entered the NCAA tournament as
a player, he was able to step back into the “big dance” as a coach when Saint
Francis won it’s first NEC Conference Championship in over 15 years in 2013. Falling
this time in the first round to the historic Penn State.
After 7 years on the D1 College coaching sidelines, Coach Cuba stepped back and
took a more predominant role in his club coaching, focused more time on building
his private training business and joined his brother Alex Cuba and highly respected
approach on skill building and a high technical emphasis for young athletes so that
they are comfortable with the ball at their feet before they ever move it on to their

his private training business and joined his brother Alex Cuba and highly respected
local coach John Tardy for a 4 year run at the D2 level at the College of Staten Island
Men’s Soccer program. Seeing multiple winning seasons and championship game
appearances, big time successes in his private training clients, camps and clinics,
Cuba set his sights on amplifying his impact on this earth by setting up a big move
down south to North Carolina. In 2019, he took the leap and landed in Raleigh with
over 14 years of coaching experience, a NSCAA National Coaching Diploma, a
NSCAA Level 1 Goalkeeping Diploma, and a USSF National D Coaching License.
Fast forward to now, Coach Cuba has coached multiple NCFC women’s teams to
Kepner Cup state Championships, spent time as a former Wake FC DPL Director, is
currently part of the Wake Tech Community College Women’s Soccer staff and now
Head Coach of one of the most historically successful women’s high school
programs in Wake County at Heritage High School.
His love and passion for the game is only matched by the same love and passion for
the progression of the players he influences. Partnering with TOR Futbol has helped
hone in on exactly what helps players progress which is a combination of support,
guidance, knowledge, accessibility, and a clear desire and love for what we do.
